El Sestao River-Athletic Club de Copa será un partido con un tinte especial para el actual entrenador zurigorri, Ernesto Valverde, y su segundo, Jon Aspiazu. Ambos defendieron el escudo del River en su etapa de futbolistas en Las Llanas cuando el equipo se llamaba Sestao Sport, en la temporada 1985-86.
